Visit Château Malmaison Built between 1800 and 1802, the Château de Malmaison, acquired in 1799 by Josephine Bonaparte, is a unique example for its Consular style furniture. The Château de Malmaison was occupied under the Consulate by the imperial couple. From 1800 to 1802, with the Tuileries in Paris, it was thus the seat of the French government. Maharajah, un mécène des années 1930 The Museum of Arts Decoratifs devotes an exhibition to the last Maharajah of Indore, Yeshwant Rao Holkar Bahadur (1908-1961) called Modern Maharajah, a patron from the 30's.
We discover the works and furniture of a young prince fascinated by English and French art and architecture, a friend and sponsor of many artists such as Man Ray, Brancusi, Le Corbusier and Perriand who ordered a modern palace to Eckart Muthesius. The Musée des Arts Décoratifs has recreated the inside of his palace, with 300 pieces of art and furniture including works of Louis Sognot’s, Charlotte Alix’s, Jean Puiforcat’s, Le Corbusier’s Hans and Wassili Luckhardt’s and even René Herbest’s iconic creations. In addition, the masterpiece of the palace, Brancusi’s birds will be displayed. |
